Deciding when you want to take a cruise
When you are deciding to take, your European cruise there is several things to consider.
First:
What are your personal time constraints? If you are restricted to periods of time that you can utilize for your vacation then naturally you will have to stick with them. If you have a limited choice such as spring or summer then it gives you a little flexibility. On the other hand, if you are able to plan a cruise at any time, then you have all the flexibility you need.
Second:
What are the most important aspects for you in regards to your cruise? Do you want to go when you can enjoy the warm weather at its peak? Then you will need to research the various destinations and see when their best climates are. If sightseeing is at the top of your list, then you can do this in any season. You just need to decide whether you prefer the warmer or the cooler seasons to do this. Finally, perhaps important events that are taking place at some of the ports are your priority. In this case, you would need to find the dates of these and plan your cruise around them.
Third:
How much of an issue is money to you? If you are on a tight budget then you are going to want to find the most inexpensive cruise you can. This will restrict you somewhat in your choice of times. Naturally, cruises are more expensive during peak tourist times.
This gives you three major points to think about when determining when you want to cruise. May to October is the perfect time as far as weather is concerned for a European cruise. The weather is comfortable and the days are long, giving you lots more time to enjoy all the things you want to do. In fact, in some parts of Europe you may experience up to 20 hours of daylight. It is during this time that you will experience the beauty of Europe at its best. The flowers and trees are in full bloom. The aura of the people is light as they look forward to the summer months. Many of the festivals are just getting underway. Most of the cafes are open for outdoor relaxing and enjoyment of refreshments. The drawback may be is it is much more crowded as the tourist season is underway.
So many of the activities that you would expect to see will be there for sure. Artists working from little spots along the walkways. Lots of farmers markets touting their wares. Plus the many festivals that one would expect to participate in. There is very little doubt that you would be disappointed or bored during this particular time of travel.
That does not mean that there is much to do and see in the off seasons as well. Any of the European countries have much to offer during their winter season, which makes it every bit as enjoyable.
